Christliches Volk! Darf Spartakus deine Kirche Niederreissen? Gib Antwort am Wahltag! Bayerische Volkspartei / Christian People! Should Spartakus tear down your Church? Give your answer on vote day!: Scarce original Bavarian People's Party anti-Bolshevik / anti-Communist 'patriotic' postcard for the right leaning portion of the population in Bavaria, (particularly Munich) in the period of the Communist-Freikorps street battles cumulatively known as the November 1918 or 1919 Revolution, which occurred in the power vacuum after the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II. This card shows a Greek-helmeted man representing Spartakus, tearing down the Frauenkriche (Church of our Lady) in Catholic Munich. The radical Communist faction in Germany had taken on the name of Spartakus (Spartakists) under the leadership of Karl Liebknecht in Berlin, and Kurt Eisner in Munich. A fantastic allegorical image of the times.
